About Economic Freedom Party.
Economic Freedom Party (EFP) is a Kenyan political party whose focus is the economic empowerment of Kenyans, particularly: those economically marginalized, women and the youth. The Economic Freedom Party has a National ideological leaning that is founded on Social Justice and led by a philosophy of inclusiveness. We conduct democratic, open, free, fair and transparent nominations in national and county elections through consensus, secret ballot, or through the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) or other democratic method acceptable to the members under the supervision of the National Elections Board and or its appointees, in which the will of the members of the Party and the people of Kenya generally are vital and expressed. we are proud to be the first political party in the entire Northern Kenya since independence.
Our Guiding values
Our guiding values, that stem from our philosophy of inclusiveness, are:
- Unity and peaceful, secure coexistence for all Kenyans;
- Leaner National and County Governments;
- Equitable Redistribution of the National Wealth and attaining the Develotion dividend;
EFP’s political beliefs are progressive and support policies that will enable the country attain the promise of devolution and empower all Kenyans primarily through domestic resource mobilisation, including taxation, to equitably distribute opportunities and wealth, a drive to Universal Health Coverage and job creation through fostering an environment conducive to employment growth and entrepreneurship to bolster opportunities for the growing number of unemployed youth and enable Kenyans positively contribute to national economic growth.
Our Party believes in making laws that safeguard and advocate for key populations including: women, children, poor communities and ethnic minorities.
Our transformation agenda calls for
Economic freedom, social justice and proportional representation (Negotiated Democracy) which we shall achieve through a holistic approach to government under Social, Economic and Governance pillars.
Our Guiding Pillars
Economic Development
EFP shall work devotedly towards tapping the great potential in Kenya’s natural resources, from beneficial extractive policies to a modern energy sector. Interventions in areas such as renewable energy from the vast solar, wind, geothermal and hydro sources of green energy in Kenya;
Women and youth empowerment are key economic drivers, and guided by our philosophy of inclusiveness, EFP shall unfetter women and youth to contribute to actualizing our nation’s economic potential. EFP shall work towards regional integration to regain Kenya’s position as Eastern Africa’s economic development flagship country. EFP shall drive industrial development to create jobs and ensure a living wage for all workers in the formal and informal sectors in Kenya.
Social Pillar
- Free quality education – EFP shall ensure universal access to qualityeducation for all Kenyan children of school going age and provide postschooling technical training targeted at providing the youth with
employability and entrepreneurship skills. - Affordable Housing and proper sanitation for all as a basic right and topromote human dignity;
- Universal health coverage for all Kenyans, supported by a functional, wellgoverned national health insurance program.
- Social and civic education to foster tolerance among Kenyans;
- Create a government that empowers citizens.
Governance Pillar
- Building capacity of national and County governments to provide transformative leadership and install strong and stable state institutions to provide public services;
- Facilitating the advent of open, accountable, corruption-free government;
- Increase National Treasury allocations to County Governments to 50% of the national budget;
- Downsize government to reflect needs of Kenyans and capacity to meet the wage burden.
- Bring closer national and sub-national leaders to their constituents;
- Institutionalize the protection and preservation of public resources and assets and, eradicate corruption;
